Do the Summer Shift 2017: Reduce electricity when demand and costs are highest

Summer Shift 2017 GraphicPolk-Burnett is launching the Summer Shift campaign to encourage members to power down during peak demand times this summer.

Reducing electricity when demand and costs are highest helps lower wholesale power costs and keeps electricity more affordable for everyone.

You can help the co-op by avoiding unnecessary or excessive electricity use when demand and costs are highest–
Weekdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., June, July and August.

Simple steps can make a big difference:

  1. Delay the dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer
  2. Turn up the thermostat
  3. Turn off the lights and entertainment devices when not in use

Participation in the Summer Shift is voluntary and will not affect your current electric bill, however, reducing peak demand when costs are highest lowers our wholesale power bill and helps keep rates more affordable for all Polk-Burnett members.

Do the Summer Shift – and Together We Save
If one member participates, the co-op saves $7.15.

If all 20,962 members participate, the co-op saves $149,878!

Total savings when you shift dishwasher, washer/dryer and lower A/C for three months, summer weekdays.
