Wanted: Engineering Technician
As part of the succession plan, Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative is seeking a full-time engineering technician. This position will perform all tasks necessary to design and route system line extensions and improvements in a manner which is efficient, effective, safe and maintain positive public relations.
The successful candidate must have a high school or equivalent diploma. Additional courses in basic electrical theory or staking certification is desirable. A minimum of two years’ experience with an electric utility as staking technician or related position is desired. Must be familiar with RUS construction assemblies and specifications and all applicable electrical codes.
Must be diplomatic in supporting and administrating cooperative policies. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be self‐motivated to organize work necessary to complete assigned and expected tasks on time and using independent judgment. Must be proficient with a computer, word processing, spreadsheets and other applicable software. Must possess a valid driver’s license. The successful candidate must be able and willing to spend an equal amount of time inside and outside the office and be extremely flexible in the arrangement of working hours and days. This position will encounter and perform duties in adverse terrain. Activities are based out of both the Siren and Centuria facilities. This person is expected to be available as situations warrant and to work to completion of the tasks to be performed or as requested under various weather conditions. Skills test conducted if selected to interview.
