Operation Round-Up awards $10,400

Polk-Burnett’s Operation Round-Up awarded $10,400 to 19 community organizations at its spring 2013 quarterly meeting. Funding for Operation Round-Up is donated by members of Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative who round their monthly electric bill up to the next even dollar amount. Grant recipients are selected quarterly by a committee of co-op members, with financial awards presented to organizations that improve our local quality of life.

Grant recipients for spring 2013 are:
1. Endeavors Adult Development Center, $650, to support the Bird Seed Project, which locally produces and markets quality seed
2. Polk Burnett Shockers Youth Baseball, $650, to support 10U, 11U, 12U and 13U teams from both counties
3. Restorative Justice of Northwest Wisconsin, $650, to address crime, offenders and victims, now serving both counties
4. Siren Police Department, $650, to purchase a digital video recorder for squad car
5. The Compassionate Friends, Northwoods Chapter, $100, to fund a memory box program at SCRMC for families after infant death
6. River’s Run & Ride Rally, $100, to fund meals at Faith’s Lodge for families after the death of a child
7. Lien Elementary School, $650, to construct a storage shed for playground equipment
8. Burnett County 4-H, $650, to help fund summer internship program
9. Dresser Library, $650, to support summer reading program
10. Grantsburg Adventure Triathlon, $100, to support new event, which promotes tourism in Grantsburg
11. Amery Wrestling Boosters, $650, to purchase uniforms and equipment for wrestling club
12. Siren School Music Department, $650, to help with transportation for school band and choir trip to Florida
13. Boy Scout Troop 160, St. Croix Falls, $500, to recognize Eagle Scout achievement
14. Mental Health Task Force, $650, to help connect people to mental health and crisis services
15. Burnett County Adult Day Care Association, $650, to provide training, supplies and program awareness
16. Community Referral Agency, $650, to purchase playground equipment for children at shelter
17. Grantsburg Area Historical Society, $650, to create new exhibit
18. Siren High School Golf, $650, to purchase uniforms, equipment and green fees
19. Grantsburg Community Swimming Pool, $500, to install a lift to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act
