Beware of power surges
Today's household electronics are expensive and very sensitive. They require a steady flow of electricity in order to work properly.
Polk-Burnett delivers clean, quality power. But power surges, caused by lightning strikes, trees touching power lines and even turning on your vacuum cleaner, are common. Power surges from lightning alone cause an estimated $500 million in damage to electronics each year.
Most damage can be avoided with proper surge protection.
Polk-Burnett offers the smart solution to protect your valuable equipment: Secure Home® power surge protection.
Polk-Burnett provides you with complete protection
Circuit-breakers, built-in appliance surge protection and power-strip surge protectors are helpful, but don't give you the complete surge protection you may need.
They aren't fast enough or powerful enough to prevent damage from catastrophic surges like lightning, which can deliver multiple, back-to-back surges.
They also don't provide adequate protection from back-door surges, ones that travel across phone lines and cable or satellite TV hardware.
Fortunately, you can rely on Polk-Burnett to provide you with surge protection devices that will protect your valuable equipment from power surges of all kinds.
Two stages of protection
Point of entry: To protect your home's wiring and major appliances from power surges outside the home choose from two units — a meter-based unit for $154.00 plus tax installed by energy professionals from your local electric cooperative or a main panel device that can be installed by a qualified electrician are available. These include a manufacturer's lifetime connected equipment warranty on white appliances, up to $10,000 per appliance ($100,000 maximum). A white appliance is defined as an appliance with a motor. Basically the motor will be protected, but the electronic components of the white appliance must also be protected at the point of use (or plug-in outlet).
Point of use (plug in): These second-stage surge suppression devices provide protection from back-door surges and surges that originate within the home. Unlike many surge protectors sold in stores, Secure Home® products feature thermal fusing, which prevents the device from overheating and potentially causing a fire.
Point-of-use protection is available from Polk-Burnett in many different models to accommodate your electronic equipment:
