Polk-Burnett’s Operation Round Up supports local schools, libraries, police and vital nonprofits this spring

Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative’s Operation Round Up program awarded $16,808 to 15 local nonprofits in April, including schools, libraries, and other nonprofits serving the communities of Luck, Grantsburg, Amery, Milltown, Clear Lake, Frederic and Burnett County.

“We’re proud to support local nonprofits and the vital work they do to improve the quality of life in our hometowns,” said Polk-Burnett General Manager Steve Stroshane. “We’re grateful to the members of Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative for their participation in Operation Round Up; your generosity makes a difference to many people and programs in our community.”

Operation Round Up grants are funded by members of Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative who round up their electric bills. Operation Round Up grant recipients are selected quarterly by a board of co-op members. 

Spring Operation Round Up grant recipients include:

1. Luck Public Library, $1,000, yoga classes
2. Grantsburg Music Festival Society, $1,000, summer Music in the Park
3. Grantsburg Chamber of Commerce, $1,000, Leo Chenal sign
4. Amery High School Student Council, $808, popcorn machine for concession stand
5. Unity School District, $1,000, soccer uniforms for Unity-St. Croix Falls co-op teams
6. Humane Society of Burnett County, $1,000, low-cost spay and neuter clinic
7. Milltown Public Library, 1,500, summer reading literacy kits
8. Clear Lake Police Dept., $1,500, reconnaissance scout robot
9. Luck School District, FCCLA, $1,000, state leadership conference for students
10. Amery School Forest, $1,000, educational signs for school forest
11. Amery School Ag Dept., $1,500, fences for goat grazing in school forest to help eradicate buckthorn
12. Endeavors Adult Development Center, $2,000, new building, Growing our Mission campaign
13. St. Croix Festival Theatre, $1,000, summer theater camps for youth
14. WPCA Radio, Amery, $1,000, computer, software and sound board
15. Frederic Farmers Market, $500, market signs, flyers and newspaper ads
