Polk-Burnett opens scholarship application for Class of 2026
As the new school year begins, sons and daughters of Polk-Burnett Electric Co-op members are invited to apply for a scholarship of up to $1,500 each! Two delegates will also be selected to represent our co-op and community for the Co-op Youth Tour of Washington, D.C.
Polk-Burnett’s scholarship program focuses on community service, not academic grades, athletic performance or financial need. Candidates must submit a community service resume and meet the following criteria:
1) be the child or legal dependent of a Polk-Burnett Electric Cooperative member,
2) graduate from high school in spring 2026 and
3) continue education at an accredited technical school, college or university in fall 2026.
“Supporting our community and youth is an important part of our mission as a cooperative,” said Polk-Burnett General Manager Steve Stroshane. “Since 1987, we have proudly awarded more than $1 million to the children of co-op members.”
Polk-Burnett scholarships and Youth Tour are funded with unclaimed Capital Credits that if not used for education would be forfeited to the state, and by the generosity of members who donate future Capital Credits.
Scholarship applications are now being accepted on the co-op’s website. The application deadline is January 1, 2026.
